It had been a dream of mine since moving to Colorado to photograph a Denver Botanic Gardens wedding. When Melanie and Max booked me for their garden wedding, I could not have been more thrilled. The couple exchanged vows in the magical solarium right in the middle of the gardens. The solarium was originally designed to be used by Euro Disney, but instead was bought by the Denver Botanic Gardens. It provided the most magical space for the couple’s color filled vision to come to life. Melanie and Max decided to keep their day intimate, inviting 40 of their closest friends and family to the ceremony and reception and another 20 or so to a late night cookies and cocktail social. They wanted to create an enchanting experience for all their guests and provided time for them to stroll the gardens during cocktail hour after the ceremony. While guests were exploring the gardens, the solarium was transformed into a beautiful dining space. Every detail of the dinner was perfect, from the string quartet playing as the guests found their seats, to the whimsical menus designed by Garden By the Sea Paper. A special detail the couple incorporated were custom coasters with their cat Izzy’s face on the front! They also served as a fun party favor for all of the guests.
One of my favorite aspects of Melanie and Max’s Denver Botanic Gardens wedding was how non-traditional it was. They had no bridal party and no dancing. The couple wanted to keep everything intimate and peaceful, making sure they actually got to spend time talking with each of their guests and spending time together. Melanie said to me “Our hope is for our wedding to be intentional, relaxed and colorful. Above all else, we are excited to spend the rest of our lives together.” Their Denver Botanic Gardens wedding could not have come together more perfectly and felt like it came to life straight out of storybook.
