Dillan + Jordan-Ann’s intimate backyard Alabama wedding was my first of 2021, and I could not picture a more perfect day to start a new wedding season. The afternoon was slow, intentional, and reflective of everything a wedding day should be. Their ceremony took place on Dillan’s brother’s property with 15 of their closest friends and family as witnesses. His brother officiated the ceremony making it even more meaningful. Tears were shed and laughter was shared all while Jordan-Ann and Dillan stood in the wind brushing the hair out of each others faces and committing their lives to one another.
One of my absolute favorite parts of the day was documenting some of their first moments married out on the lake in a canoe Dillan’s dad had built. It was the most beautiful canoe I had ever seen and I love that they chose to incorporate it into their wedding. Some of my favorite images are Dillan and his dad embracing by the canoe—sharing a moment that just can’t be created.
The evening ended with an intimate meal together outside with their family as the sun sank and Tom Petty played in the background. The guests each sat on a unique antique dining chair and ate off of vintage china Dillan and Jordan-Ann had sourced themselves. After a first dance, cutting of pie (I was thrilled about this) and s’mores, everyone gathered in the yard for fireworks and goodbyes.
Dillan and Jordan-Ann’s love for each other and their family shone through the entire day and every one of their images. I am so grateful to have been trusted to document such raw and genuine moments—the intention and meaning behind every detail reminded me what a wedding should be all about. I wish nothing but the best for the Powells. Their day will forever be one of my favorites!
