It has been a long time wish of mine to photograph a wedding at the stunning Inn at Serenbe just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I am obsessed with the luxury campground feel and the rustic yet charming nature of the Inn (and all the buildings) on the beautifully kept grounds. When Julia first reached out with her vision for her day and mentioned Serenbe would be the venue, I was unbelievably excited. Julia had been connected to the Inn and the entire community at Serenbe for quite some time. It would be the perfect place for a weekend wedding celebration with all their closest friends and family. The Inn reflected the community and closeness Brad and her shared with them.
The day finally arrived and it was nothing short of perfect. Julia, her bridesmaids, and pup Ellie spent the morning getting ready at the most beautiful house on the lake. It was everything a wedding morning should be—peaceful, stress-free and filled with laughter. Julia and Brad’s friends who had flown in from all over the world, (I’m talking from Europe to Australia), spent the early part of the day playing croquet on the lawn while they waited for the ceremony.
After the sweetest first look between Julia and Brad we took bridal party and family portraits. The whole afternoon was overcast and at one point we all thought it would rain but it never did! In fact, right before the ceremony, the sun broke through the clouds. Sunlight filled the wooded grove as Julia and Brad exchanged vows.
After the ceremony, Julia, Brad and I drove a golf cart around the grounds and took wedding portraits. One of my favorite spots we stopped was a beautiful tree filled with hydrangeas. Hydrangeas were Julia’s flower of choice for her wedding florals. They were also a flower in Julia and Brad’s backyard where we took their engagement photos. I loved that we were able to incorporate them into their wedding portraits!
The evening ended with all the guests dancing the night away to live music played by a close family friend. One of my favorite parts of the evening happened during the father/daughter dance. Julia’s brother surprised her dad by singing a song he had written for her when she was 13. The dance turned into their entire family coming up to dance to the song together.
Every piece of Julia and Brad’s wedding at the Inn at Serenbe was a dream to document and I will forever remember this perfect spring day!
